Hallo all

can someone please tell me if there is a way to replace the balljoint where the draglink connects to the pitman arm and at the bottom steering arm

Not sure, If I am think of the same part you are describing then you can't, you have to replace the whole drag link.
Try these guys, don't know if they still there I use to buy with them when I was still in PTA.

As far as i can remember Mr B took his to an engineering place to replace the ball.

The balls can be replaced and the cups in the link are available from the stealers. ;-)

Yip Muddog is correct, the pitman arm and j-arm ball joints can be drilled out, and new ones pressed & welded in, by a decent engineering firm. I had it done on Bolt, made a substantial difference to the steering!

Thanx alot for the quick replies but does anyone know the corect size of the ballpin that needs to be used or do i just ask for a ballpin on a hilux i have all the equiupment to do the job myself i juast want to by the part as i do not trust other peoples welding in an imortant part as the j-arm

I just phoned suspension parts and they say that the ballpin is R395 each and the Draglink is R990 it sounds really expencive for thye ballpin did u talk to someone spicific at suspension parts

I bought a complete new draglink from Gemini Parts in JHB. R450-00 (in 2008)
Maybe they sell the ball for the pitman arm and J-arm too?

Ulimate 4x4 also sells the draglink for around R500; not sure if they have the ballpins as well. Might be worthwile to phone, just maybe they'd have the cups seperately too....
