Probeer Fenner, weet nie of hulle nog in K'dorp is nie.

Anders kan jy Bircraft probeer in Jhb, die BMI group (Bearing Man) of SKF.
Sien RS components het ook http://za.rs-online.com/web/search/sear ... ss%20Steel

PS: Jy lyk vir my bekend (familie voorstel thread), was jy nie by die tegniese kollege K'dorp so '94/'95 se koers nie? Dink jy en Johan Meyer was saam in dieselfde groep saam met 'n paar vd Vall Reefs 'appies' ... :?:

They're used to couple two rotating shafts that are mis-aligned and come in a wide range of sizes. The one in Gert's pic is a single helix ..... the helix spiral is machined from a solid blank (beam coupling) which then allows flexibility in the coupling without the backlash that is sometimes found in some other types. It would typically be used where the two shafts to be coupled meet at an angle. A double helix would typically be used where to shafts meet at a slight offset.

They can also assist in reducing the transfer of vibration from one shaft to the other .... can be designed to fail at a predetermined torque so as to protect more expensive components ..... can be manufactured from a variety of metals depending on the application, but I think most commonly used is SS.

Don't know what Gert's intended use is, but there is a very wide range of applications.

Also used in automated roulette wheels, more of a torque application in this case :wink2:

Gert, why not use an old plotter with a Dremel mounted to it?

I wish! Wanted to pull that stunt ages ago to cut out the balsa sections for my model planes straight from CAD
We only have Design Jets at work (been asking around); seems old plotters are scarce.
Maybe a CNC engraver could do the trick?

There is another thing on the market more for scrapbooking type people that uses a blade with configurable cutting pressure, but at R20k I wouldn't butcher it to fit a dremel
