Jumping out of 1st Gear (Hilux IFS 2004)

Post by trailer »

Howdy Chaps

So here's a question that I'll need help on: Every now and then the car pops out of 1st gear when pulling away from a standing start. But strangely enough, not whilst under load or incline etc, only on a flat surface (2 wheel high range only)
There is no whine or noises coming from the gearboxs, no clutch slipping, no leaks. Any idea's as to why it might "pop" out? I conciously make sure it is fully engaged in gear before I release the clutch, and it still happens every-now-and-then.
My local toyota service dealer cannot find the problem either.

I have a 3lt KZ-TE 2004 4x4 d/c

Hallo Martin,

Mine does the same, I was told that it is a 'link' in the gearbox. Can anyone else confirm this???

daar was `n post op die http://www.4x4community.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; forum so jaar trug.

Ps. my KZ doen dit ook so 3 keer n maand.

This sounds like it might be a simple and fast solution. I'll do this on the weekend and monitor how it goes forward (s'cuz the pun...)

Failing that, I'll take it into the Mayfair guys to get the 'box and linkages checked out.

Thanks for the advice guys.
