Where are you all going
Well I am excited about the year ending and going away. Holiday is planned and some preparation and mods to the "Bakkie"
I am curious about where others from the forum are going, why and what preparations you have made to prepare an exciting, interesting and safe trip.
Really this is just an excuse to talk about the holiday, I mean how long can I sit and stare at google earth.
To get this rolling here are my plans in brief.
We are going to Sehlabathebe in Lesotho via Mokhotlong and over Matabeng pass. we went there 4 years back on my 2nd 4X4 trip and loved it. it will be interesting to see how I cope with a little more experience. I am more excited this time and less nervous. The thing I realy hope works out this time is the damn fridge. I have never had the dual battery work well and this time I hope I have it sorted out and also have a solar panel to assist. this will also be the first time in a roof top tent.
Come on guys, lets here those plans

Re: Where are you all going
Going to the Bazaruto Islands for two weeks(2Jan - 14Jan). Will be driving to Vilankoulos and then going over to the island with a boat. I just came back from a 4 week Montreal trip so I need allot of Sun and sea.
Was planning to buy a fridge for the trip but the wife decided that she would also have a real holiday if we take a all inclusive package that includes all meals and drinks.

Re: Where are you all going
Due to unforseen circumstances and changes at the company, I will have no longer the luxury of holiday this year as I have to find other grass to walk on.
Thus I will be having a 4day holiday over the Long weekend of the 25th of December...

Nico

Went Chloorkop yesterday, a 4x4 club was there earlier in the day and marked a route, followed, nice obstacles, only the last hill climb did I have to use diff lock, tried twice without, and then gave in. Once again the Hilux impressed me.

Re: Where are you all going
Went to De Wildt 4x4 trail. I was impressed with the start area, nice facilities, even pool to swim.
Trail not difficult, even saw some Zebra. The trail is cleared so can’t scratch vehicle. Obstacles and route are clearly marked. The rocky climb was the most difficult, but not difficult with the hilux! Scary looking, so the wife and kid did not want to ride with. What was nice is the fact there is different type of obstacles, like dongas, hills, rocky patches, sandy etc. Next trip Hennops in Jan.
P.S. Watched a guy in a newish range rover, with low profiles! Range Rover impressed with the suspension set on high. Still damaged his bumpers, broke tailight, though.

Re: Where are you all going
Was the zebra all you saw? There is plenty of game, different type of buck espacially the nice big elands and some giraffe.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Also one of my favourite closer by trails, much better value for money then Hennops 4x4.
