National Luna Rant

Post by Stef »

Hello Guys,

Earlier somewhere I commented on a post regarding camping fridges, mentioning my problems with my NL weekender 90L twin.
Well, I took it to a reputable repairer in Pta east, and as it turns out the Danfoss compressor is seized owing to little/no gas in the system, and an entire new casing would have to be fitted to resolve the gas leak issue, for the princely sum of R7460. This Fridge was purchased in 2015 for my Conqueror, has maybe 60 days of running under its belt.
And guess how many other weekenders were there at the repairer's shop? 5 that I could count, apparently all the same problem.
To add add insult to injury, those ridiculously expensive baskets (which I have a full set of) won't fit in the new casing, so 90L becomes 65L maybe...

And for that ID10T on the Wegry forum that reckoned Campmaster is inferior due to its quality of insulation blah blah blah.....my 95L Campmaster is still running strong after 9 years, no leaks. Pity it doesn't fit through the door of the Conqueror

Stef i have 80 liter National Luna fridge/freezer which i bought in 2003. Accept of a fan i had to replace it runs 100% all the time, I am very happy with it. Did you contact National Luna themselves to assist you? I experience very good service from them.

Thabo, ja ek was by die man in Lynnwood..Jan, vandaar die kwotasie

I have a very old 80L Snowmaster and a 10 Year old National Luna 80L Twin door and its like an engine on a car that needs to run and not stand for long periods of time, both fridges run 24/7 as great bar fridges when quests come over and they have no problems from running constantly. Have a great 2021 full of 4x4 Fun

So hy gaan volgende ingestuur word. :D:

I have had both Engel and NL.
The Engel was good for about 7 years and then required the full very expensive internal replacement of components. I then sold it and as far as I know it is still running (noisily).
Replaced with NL twin 72ltr 6years ago and so far no problems at all. I don’t run it continuously.
My friends with Snomasters have had endless problems.
Luck of the draw?
Wishing my life away till the next trip!

More Manne,

My nuwe yskas gister gaan haal, nuwe stainless chassis, nuwe kompressor.

Hele oefening R6423
R5921 vir die chassis (maar 40% afslag)so R3552
Kompressor R1782
Gas R250

Sonder die afslag R8k, so ja, nuwe yskas...
