Boat Fishing now on Katse Dam!!

Dunno if everyone knows it......but it is now perfectly legal to use a boat on Katse Dam.
We went there twice in September.
Fishing is just damn awesome, with the maximum permissible catch of 10 trout per permit (per rod) a given.
Fish were all in the 1-2kg range.
Some were caight on fly, but most on Rapalas/spinners from the bootjie (yes yes I know - but this is how we did it).
Accommodation is nice and clean, R 1300 / night for a 3 bedroom house.
The dam in front of Motebong is dry....like in bone dry. We launched at a site near the Bridge, about 12km away. Not really such an issue, and you are at the "hot spots" then anyway, not having to travel that far upstream by boat.
Make VERY sure that your brakes are 200% over that pass - we also take the small boat, I think a big boat would be helluva cumbersome to tow and use on Katse.
You also need to buy a permit per rod ( R 50 ), and you can take out 10 fish per permit (like in take home).
There are also plenty plenty plenty yellows in Katse - I'll go get us some next time.
Google "Motebong Lodge" for info.
Just be warned......Katse is VERY VERY low at the moment.
