Front recovery points for my Terios

If we can have a forum for the Amarok, I see no reason why we cant have one for Daihatsu, which is part owned by Toyota anyway.

Front recovery points for my Terios

Post by Ali3n »

Okay, after a few calls, driving around and a lot of waiting for people to get beck to me I managed to get hold of steel for my recovery points in front. Total cost including Steel 10mm, Paint and 30mm hole saw (R330). The story begins like this. While in my last week of leave (2weeks ago) I was sitting around at Marks house (OOOOMS) and decided it was about time I built my recovery points as I have none… Took the bumper off one evening and the next morning went back to Mark. Him and I had a look and worked on a little design. We went to a guy he knows who took the measurements end said he would call me back. Nothing. A day or so later I went to Atlantis engineering and asked them for the same quote. The next day the phoned me back and quoted R1500 for the whole bracket but they would take up to 4 weeks to complete it. Way too long for me… I can never wait…

I then went around looking for quotes on steel and could only get sheets for between R2500 and R3500. What would I do with a sheet of 10mm steel??? After being told I should ask our local scrap metal place who could not help me I asked a contractor at my work who I could contact for off-cuts. He said I he would let me know and a bout an hour later he said he had cut the sizes I needed and would drop it off later. I needed a price firs and he then said it was for free…Cool.

Over the weekend I completed it and took photos but somehow they did not save as it was taken on my wife’s phone… Will have to strip it all again later over the weekend of how it fits behind the bumper but here is a photo of how it looks now… I am happy with the results. What you all think??

Thanks Oupa for the assistance and thanks Hans (4x4 Mega Vanderbijlpark) for the shackles…
