4.5 Cruiser

Hi everybody..please help me, i baught a 2000 petrol cruiser ( Carb )The car does not idle when its cold. It strugles to start in the morning but runns like a bomb once it is hot.It only does this when its cold. What should i look at ? It also has a mean backfire :oops:

Welcome. Check the ignition timing

Welcome Stan.

After the ignition, check the ignition leads. A faulty lead can cause the same problem.

mine does the same, had it on the dyno and all checked.
it only needs to idle for about 2 min's before you take of, if not it will not run.
i got the idea that the fuel supply is not keeping up.......

check that the choke closses properly, i'm not sure if there's a manual choke cable or if its automatic :think:
take the inlet pipe off and make sure that the choke butterfly is virtually completely closed when is cold, take i pic if your unsure and post it

definately manual choke yes, will check and see
choke does work, there is a difference when pulling and pushing but what you are saying makes sense
