A friend has campsites with ablutions at Mechunje. A couple km south of Ngoma gate. I can dig out contact details, if this works for you.

The Chobe waterway is truly an unique experience !!!!!!

You could easily spend weeks there.

When in Kasane do yourself a favour and stop at Pangolin. Speak to Guts. If they have pre-booked fly-in tours you are out of luck. But chances are he may well be able to give you an experience of a lifetime !!!!!!!!!!!

As a registered photographic tour operator their boats may go further down the river than the other boats.

Their knowledge of the area, of the wild life, of photography ..... a MUST DO if you love your camera !!

There are many options in Kasane itself as well as the river front into Kazungula. Check Tracks 4 Africa for LOTS of options including contact details etc.
That being said, you mention Chobe River Lodge. Are you sure you don't mean Chobe Safari Lodge? If so, "reservations" at the camp sire are not guaranteed and it operates on a first come first served basis. Once you're in you can stay for as long as you pay for.

Senyati about 5 clicks south on the road to Gabarone. Lovely, well lit waterhole with a lot of activity.

Correct, Chobe Safari Lodge. my mistake. We will use Kasane as a base to do Vic falls and visit sites in the area i.e. Chobe itself ...

Any info welcome.

Just incase the missis wants a bit of a "bederf" ... Water Lilly Lodge inside Kasane is very affordable (at least it was in 2013).

We booked our Vic trip via them. Their driver KNOWS the drill !!!! We filled in our border forms even before we departed. At the border he walked our papers through the system while we patiently waited outside the building in the baking sun - standing in line to get into the building. When he came out he just waved us back to the vehicle. Imagine our joy when we realised he had just won us more than 30 minutes, at ONE border post. Same on the Zim side, then again when we went from Zim onto the bridge to Melawi (?). On the return trip he did exactly the same .... Another tour guide got more than a bit upset that his guests had to stand in line while our papers got walked through.

NO bribes, nothing funny. Just a local guide making sure his guests get preferential treatment.

For Vic Falls remember two things -

DO tell them you are a SADC member, or you will get charged European rates !!

DO take a R10 poncho with, or you may look like this -
Chobe-143.jpg

You cant rent a R40 poncho at the entrance, and well be extorted for even more money when you try to give it back. Best is to just take your own with.

Also do think about your camera and cell phones .... the water fall is in excess of 100m, and kicks up a permanent shower of mist, causing a 100% chance of heavy rain !!!!!!! The rain starts about half way down the walk path and gets heavier and heavier as you go along.

Is the falls flowing again? Saw pictures a while ago where the pools at the bottom of the falls were going green with algae. And only one tiny stream flowing over the edge.

Neil, get there as early as you can in the day - by 11 if possible and you'll be sure to get a spot. You'll be able to stay as long as you want - don't worry about the 3 day story.
