Rian
moet nie die Isuz vergeet nie,
ek kry so gemideld 8km/l(ek ry hard)

Eric, did you go to Cargo Motors in your Platkar or one of the Luxes? If it was the merc I can understand why he had that reaction but if you arrived there in Bulldog he should have know you are used to much worst terrain

Cas, the plan was to go there myself - there's a short training track just behind Cargo Motors - but due to yesterday's events with family having already arrived from JHB I asked them to bring the Triton to me instead and we only drove to the 'rocky trail' which is just down the road from me. Because the Sales Manager, Marius, could not come himself, he simply sent a driver so I did not want to do anything strenuous with it. The Triton performed well enough with what we did check though. Took lots of photos all over and the Trition looked good. The only thing that I found strange was the amount of wear on the tyres, Bridgestone Duellers HT, (reckon only about 25% tread left) on a vehicle that has only 28,000km on the odo. That seemed strange to me?

That is strange... I have heard another swtory about the new Tritons. Don't know if it is true though but evidently if you select the LR gearing in the wrong sequence or something like that, you can actually break it.

One thing I did not like with the LR lever is that one can hardly read the indentations on the transfer gear knob. They are black, on black. First thing to do would be to paint them white or some such easy to see colour.

cassie, I have been driving them every now and then and found them extremely capable offroad, probably the best ifs?

Now a dc 2.5 has the following std either 2wd, 4wd full time then 4wd hr cdl or 4wd lr cdl and back diflock. SO you can now do permanent 4wd. Electric back window, full heated leather electric seats, climate control and trip computer. The only thing it does not have is speedo cruise! Ride is very nice and light on juice!

The Triton's unusual shape has grown on me a little, but I still see a Mitsubishi that's as soft as it's predecessors, and similarly, in all probability the front suspension will be standing with splayed camber and a terrible sag in no time at all. They would have to go a long way in reliable rugged improvements, rather than fancy gimmicks to impress me. Perhaps I'm unfairly judgemental, but the legacy of poor off road ruggedness in the 'Colt' series is still fresh in my mind. :problem:
