Having bought house with a damaged pool last year, i've been itching to do something about it, but alot still needs to fixed in the house.
IMG_5008.jpg
this is what it looks like now. it is roughly about 3 x 8 meters.. and fairly deep. I rekon maybe 40 - 50KL pool

while house repairing still ongoing for this year, i want to plan for pool repair project next year.
this is currently a fiberglass pool. sides have started to push out, and the a bulge that cracked along the left side of the pool.

So what are my option?

Lift up pool and go for concrete / gunite pool?
Or repair the current fiberglass pool?
Or install brand new shell?

From what i ready, concrete / gunite pool just has too much issues with it being porous and algae, and difficult to repair, heat loss.
Fibreglass seems the better option with lack algae, less prone to cracking and retain heat better.

As it is a fairly standard rectangular shape, i don't think it should be a problem to find a replacement shell?
I was thinking of repair as this is probably cheaper, and easier... not sure how they get new shell at back of the house? and it riggghhhhttt at the back of the erf.
But the state of that pool , is new shell not just better option? can it be repaired to be as good as new... structurally and not just look new.

Thanks for all the info Oom Chris on the heating panels etc. Will definitely keep in mind all the school fees you paid and shared with us.

I've done a number of repairs to glass fibre pools and it's not impossible to repair that one .... but ..... from what I see besides the tear and the bulging side is that the floor has heaved as well. This happens when a pool is left without water and the ground water wells up with rainfall. So the shell could be repaired in situ but will be a difficult repair. It's probably a better option to lift it out and repair.

In that case I think that you might just be better off to replace the shell completely which might still work out cheaper than a gunite unit.

Oh, by my estimation (just going on the pic) is that it's about 20kl volume.
