IMO
do not do it
If you do a Google search, you will find what me on about
K&N filters are great for keeping small children and rocks out of the motor, so the saying goes

So to my own experience
My own1st quad, though was clever and fitted a K&N filter
It lets in the very fine dust, yes it was well oiled, the outer sock helped a little, however not perfect
Yes it does flow better, however also allows the very fine dust to get past
The original foam filter on my quad, filtered every thing

Hope this helps :cooldude:

Bad idea, Andries. It's really a performance filter for asphalt track vehicles .... performance in air-flow, not filtration. Compare the surface area of a Donaldson element against the surface are of the K&N filter .... the Donaldson is more than twice the surface area, yet the K&N allows a faster volume flow, why? The pores in the element are bigger, so there is less drag, but more dirt and bigger particles get through. Now consider that for every litre of fuel that you burn through the motor, about 20 000 to 30 000 litres of air go through there as well. That dirt chews rings and cylinder walls quicker than one realizes.

Don't do it. I would have serious doubts about using it on a platkar that never sees gravel, so on a dirt road it's a big no-no.

;-)

.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Not on dirt road use.

When you will never drive any dirt roads it is highly recommended, but not on any dirt application.

my ervaring is dat K&N net groot klippe uithou.
