The original SFA, the one that were used to copy the Land Rover and the Land Cruiser from.. The one that is still around since World War II. A Jeep Wrangler 4.0 Sport hailing all the way from 1997 with 150000 km's on the clock. It doesnt have a soft-top, bummer, but the hard top removes in seconds allowing topless fun in the dirt.
My Jeep got the "Matt Black" treatment sometime during its life, by somebody who didnt really know how to use a spray-gun, who left the paint job quite rough, but I am busy rectifying that with 1000 grit water paper and lots of patience. Years of neglect also took its toll, and there are 100's of little itty-bitty thingies that need to be fixed but I am almost halfway thru that as well. Now only the hazards and the hi-level brake light remains to be fixed, and the aircon needs a re-gas.
The biggest problem to be solved is a supposedly fault "chip", that causes the engine to run very rich and rough at times. That is a job for Carlo at Modjects to tackle in the new year, and I am ever hopeful that we'll sort that out pronto. Even in its current state with lots of unused fuel billowing out of the exhaust this baby runs like a dream. And speaking of exhausts, I think it needs a new better Powerflow unit if possible. Just so it can breathe easier...
Most of the expensive mods are already done, 4" suspension lift, 2" body lift, 33" tyres, snorkel, bonnet bra, off-road bumpers front and rear and even a DVD player with reverse camera. Coil springs all round makes for a nice comfy ride, and enables awesome axle articulation! I removed the rear bench seat turning it into a 2-seater convertible, with space for a fridhe and compressor behind the front seats.. I must say, it's been a while since I have been this excited about a new project.. Assemetterrefek it was last when I bought Kaspaas in 2005.....
