From Landy to Lux; Hello Everyone
Hi there,
I am busy selling my beloved landy in order to buy a 99 2.7i raider from a forum member, so think it's apt I join in the meantime.
Hope to have many trouble-free miles and lots of fun!
ps: This is my landy if anyone is interested: http://www.4x4community.co.za/classifie ... -tdi&cat=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
When it comes to camping for 2 people; nothing beats it. And it has proven very reliable over the years.

hehe I have! that is no comparison.
But it's nice for the back passengers to sit forward and not sideways. Also safer. If I could get a nice 5 door landy, I would not hesitate.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
That is one thing I am worried about - the fuel consumption - but I am hoping with lower running costs this evens out.
I have spent about R50000 in the last 3 years getting the landy in the condition it's in.

Danman, anything I will miss apart from the good fuel consumption?
How are the 2.7's on service costs?

How are the 2.7's on service costs?
What you will miss:
-Bit of ride comfort(because of it's all round independant suspension)
-Uniqueness(landy in a good condition always catches one's eye and makes one want to go into the bush - no matter what you drive)
-not worying about rust!!!
-Fuel consumption
-Taxi respect(they tend to take more chances cutting infront of me with the Hilux)
-torque
What you will gain.
-A great forum full of knowledgeable, willing and capable friends.
-Service cost(about a third of that of the landy Diesel)
-Drivability
-Safety(ABS, Airbags)
-Use of a loadbin
-Reliability
-Resale value
-Speed
-Power
-repair cost(Drove my last landy 130 crew cab tdi for 5 years cost me R35000 on engine repairs, both my toyotas in 6 years cost me R6000)
-etc, etc.......
I still from time to time get nostalgic when I see a Landy, but up untill they sort out their reliability, parts, prices and resale value I will never consider buying one again.
Hope you enjoy it here
P.S
This is my personal opinion from experience with my vehicles.

Hi Emile,
welcome to the forum. A friend of mine also recently sold his Landie and said that for the first time in 8 years he sleeps right threw the night. He used to lie awake and listen to the Landie breaking in the garage at night time.
