A NEW LOOK - (BY GOMAD)
A change is as good as a holiday or is it as good as a new bakkie?
So I can't get a new bakkie, 'cos how will I ever be able to say goodbye to this one?
But if it itches, you gotta scratch - so here is my "new look" - courtesy of Ciske and his GOMAD team.
First the "old look"...
And here is the "new look"...
I already ordered a new look front roofrack and Ciske is also tasked with helping me figure out where to install the safe (and of course to build it)

Re: A NEW LOOK - (BY GOMAD)
I like the safe idea!
However, I need some education .....
Why a canvas canopy with 'tralies' instead of a beautifully streamlined glass-fibre canopy?
What are the advantages?
Please educate me because aside from a more box-shaped form that might allow more packing space and a more sturdy base to take weight on a RR I don't see it. Furthermore, one is in any case severely limited as to how much weight one can load.To my mind the glass fibre looks so much better, more aerodynamic, is strong enough to fit a RR to load some of the lighter items, allows better visibility (especially when reversing / parking), is less likely to leak, is more secure (a sharp knife is all you need to slit the canvas), it doesn't fade, will last a lot longer and easier to clean. There cannot be that much difference in the weight of the two although glass-fibre is quite heavy, but so is steel and canvas.
I really don't intend to be critical, but what am I missing?

Re: A NEW LOOK - (BY GOMAD)
Andy, I guess it's a question of "different strokes for different folks"However, I need some education .....

One reason is the extra packing space.....
and then there are the kids.....we regularly visit Bokbaai on the West Coast, as well as De Kelders near Gansbaai, and also Struisbaai. My kids and their friends always want to sit on the back whenever we drive around there. I find the canvas canopy so much easier to remove, and now I also have the extra rails for a bit more peace of mind.
Oh and then there's just me.....I just like the look a lot more than the fibreglass canopy
and I DON'T like checkered plate at all
I guess one can rationalise any decision......maar as jou gat jeuk moet jy krap

Re: A NEW LOOK - (BY GOMAD)
Thanks Hennie .... it really had me wondering why someone (besides a farmer) would go that route and thought that there was something I was missing altogether, .... but I can live with "different strokes".
