LED Light Bar Measurements - Please help

Post by pietpetoors »

Can you guys please help me.
Please post the distance between the uprights of your bumper/bullbar here.
I need the info for my next LED Light Bar order.
The distance between my bumper's uprights is 680mm which means there is just enough space for a 25" bar

I installed the 20.2" LED light bar on my Hilux today but I see there is space for more.
But I do not want to order a longer model if it won't fit enough vehicles.

after the 20.2" , the next size is 25" . It gives 2160 Lumens more light, but is also R700 more expensive.

So with the number of replies we had so far, it seems like the 25" will fit on all the bullbars so far.

Pieter, ek merk op daardie foto's dat die linker kant van die pad/bosse is meer verlig as regs (wat nie noodwendig 'n slegte ding is nie). Is dit so gestel of kom die verskil in by jou trokkie se eie hoofligte dalk?

Earlier this week I took my trokkie for road worthy test. At first I wanted to remove the LED bar so that I do not wake sleeping dogs, but in the end was too lazy to do it and decided to take my pak soos 'n man.

What I did do was to remove the fuse for the LED Bar so that it don't come on when you put brights on and decided that if they ask I will just tell them it is broken.

Long story short, they tested the lights and because the LED bar did not come on with the brights the testing officer did not even ask one question about the LED bar, it was as if was not even there.

So I think of we are concerned about the cops one should put it on separate switch. Or one can wire it to work with the brights but still put in an extra switch so you can switch it off at a road block so it don't come on with the brights.

He probably didn't realise that the LED bar was actually a lighting system! ;)

I was thinking of installing a dual action switch for this. On the one side it will switch on with the lights, have an off position where it does nothing and one where I can only switch on the LED bar

Step 1:
Tap from Brights +12V line to a fuse then toggle switch (Spot Light On/Off)

Step 2:
From other pole of toggle switch send +12V to relay coil.

Step 3:
Ground the output pin of relay coil.

Step 4:
Connect +12V feed wire from battery + pole to fuse then to relay (normally open) switch point.

Step 5:
Connect output pin of same normally open switch to +12V supply to spots.

Step 6:
Connect spots ground to..........ground

If this is not clear I'll draw a picture.
