This is a very helpful article. Can you also post comments on the 2.4 and 2.8 diesels?
That 22R engine looks exactly like the one that was used in the 2.4 Cresida. Those engines are almost indestructible.

Electronics is not what we will need in the bundus, so I guess it is not a good option. Pity though, I think the power and fuel consumption would have been great.

Will it be possible to install one of these new 3 Litre turbo Diesel engine to the old solid axle double cab bakkies? Are these new engine as reliable as the old Toyota engines?

2.8 Diesel ?
I am in the market for a Hilux Double Cab. I see that from 1995 - 1998 there was a 2.8 Diesel. Can anybody tell me how reliable they are and what their fuel consumption is. I see their trade value is much lower than the Petrol version, is there a reason for that?
