O ja Fuel consumption. On the 22R I averaged 4 km/l (best ever 4.5 doing 100km/h average on the open road) With the 7mge I averaged about 6.2 in town with about 40% Highway (N1 in and around PTA with traffic averaging 130 Km/h) I never measured open road only without towing, but towing my Bundu trai...

(Un)fortunately the imports are all Supra but the only real difference is the intake system (throttle body) and the Alternator. But they come without an airflow meter and a ECU or harness My original engine was a 22R (donkey) The biggest challenge was the cooling system. There were very little space...

Re: 160km per hour
 Must have been on a dyno :) On the N1South (Ben Schoeman) around 15:45 during a small gap I found in the traffic. I have another pic where the needle gets stuck against the tripmeter reset pin, but due to an unsteady hand and crappy cellphone camera the foto blurred too much. BTW It was with...

Re: Chinese Motor
What is the diffs between the real 4Y and the China model? The Chinese 4Y you have in your vehicles now, will those be the same as what the GWM bakkies run on? Same block but the GVM is the EFI variant of the 4Y. I see in the states the also had 22RE (22R with EFI) and 22RTE (EFI with Turbo) engine...

Re: Hilux
Thanx Bennie, I think it will be some time before I buy a play toy. I do not know if I will buy a SFA for a Toy. I think more in the line of something with a short wheelbase. Perhaps a shortened SFA Hilux suspension with a TAZZ or SWB Hilux bakkie on top. Or perhaps one of them very OLD SWB Cruiser...

This is my daily runner. I traded my Beemer on this one. Charmaine wanted a station wagon and I agreed on one condition, it had to be 4x4 then. So we settled on this one. It is large and comfortable with enough packing space. I would just like to do up the suspension for a bit better ground clearanc...

Re: SFA vs IFS
Normally this SFA vs IFS topic becomes a very long discussion. It seems to me as if one can summarize it as follows: As always, it depends on what you want to use the vehicle for. If you are into the challenges various trails offer then the IFS will not work for you and you have to go for the SFA. ...

Y But even a Hilux with a solid front axle that does not have one or two lockers is also most times useless off-road, yes they may have more ground clearence and more articulation on the front axle, but as soon as one wheel lifts off the ground, Bingo there goes your traction. Simon This is one pla...

Piet Back in about 98/99 when the IFS luxes was tested before it was first launched I spoke to a guy working for Toy SA. Soutman No offence but it is because diesels are many a times driven the way you decribe that I will never buy a second hand diesel. I drove a 99 Isuz that way myself and ended up overhauling the engine the second time at 65 000Kms before selling it. EGT running too high kills a diesel engine. My ol...

That’s why I originally threw out my 22R. It also had the BroSpeed conversion but was slow as hell and very thirsty. Top speed on the highway was 120 hammering it without the aircon on and it dropped down to 90 going uphill. With the 7M-GE I can maintain 130+ if I need to with my fully loaded Bund...

Piet So you've got your Larney 4x4 now. When are you buying your PlayToy aka SFA Hilux    I have the Pajero as my Larney 4x4 and is looking at a cheap run-around for the Missus (20-30K but it must be economical and reliable) so that I can have the Lux to myself exclusively as...

Why don't you just change it to look the same as Bennie's? His has an airflow meter in which mine does not have. Refer to my previous post. Re: Benhur please give me your idea or comments
Hello Benhur Have a look at the 2nd photo of this thread, not a very clear photo, but if you look on the left hand side of the photo, you will see a small valve which is incorperated into the air intake system, on Ronny's Hilux that has the 7MGE engine fitted, the air intake system facing the engin...

Re: Cresida
Hi Bennie, there is also a red Hilux with 7MGE motor in Langebaan. I had a look at it the other day. The engine fits so nicely in it, it almost seems like a factory fit. I am sure if it was 3 cm longer it would not have fit. Sorry for only replying to this now. I somehow missed your and Simon's pos...

I have no idea Try phoning them. Try TV2 Spares, Rebel Motor Spares, Jap Engine Importers With the 7MGE you must get the management system separate. The problem with the electronics is not really their relibility so much. It is more the schlep of getting the whole harness with all the other bits and pieces and integrating it with the current wiring. Like with my 7M-GE conversion. I am using the MR Turbo EFI to manage the engine. Once I was runni...
