Nick,
I've done a couple of trips (by bike) from Cape Town to Dar es Salaam via different routes over the past five years. Would happily help with places of interest in Namibia, Bots, Zim (for that adrenalin rush), Malawi, Moz & Tanzania.

I made one for R 650. There was some concern over the joins that I used but it held up well after a trip over some rough roads in the Cederberg mountains close by.Pics here under DIY. Do the same. Even a couple of k is crazy!!

Look the diff from the rear of the vehicle. If the casing has a removeable cover at the back it is a local Gearmax diff. The import diff's housing is solid & it means the centre portion of the diff must be removed from the front (propshaft side). The import diff was fitted as standard to the ear...

Park the vehicle on a LEVEL surface & open the FILLER plug (the one halfwayup). No matter how much come out will be excess oil which means it was overfilled somehow. Once it stops, the correct amount will be left in the box. If it is overfilled, this might be why you are struggling to engage the...

Re: Hilux Spares in Cape Town?
I do have a brand new, unused ARB airlocker (in the box) which will fit your front diff (also rear diff if you have the imported one). I could be persuaded to part with it (R8500-00). If you are set on a locker, you can't get better than this one - just ask around.

Darren, get hold of Riaan (ToyX4 on this forum) via PM. He is bringing in a few EFI units from the States for the 22R. Takes some time to get here but they are not avaulable locally unless you are luckier than Jacob Zuma. (Sorry Mods)

The Gabriel Safaris on my SFA are finished. I know this because the liloe in my pool nosedives & rebounds less often than when I stop at a red light suddenly. I am looking at fitting either the same again but am also considering Monroes. The vehicle is fitted with Old Man Emu leafsprings so I ne...

The snorkel hood fits the 75mm pipe perfectly. I tried the heat bending with sand inside & dicovered you need eight hands & the speed of a mamba.

All legitimate conerns gents, which I have taken into consideration! I decided to go the pvc route first due to cost. To make one out of metal would leave you with a rust problem at the coast unless you went with stainless. There are not too many shops bending 75mm pipe & those that do have a ve...

It's actually 75mm s&v pvc pipe. (the white plumbing pipe you can get from most hardwares). I originally tried 75 mm black pvc conduit (to avoid having to paint it) but found the wall thickness not to be uniform & the pipe more oval than round. The problem with these issues was that because ...

Sorry, one more question. Are the sideshafts interchangeable from import diff to local diff? Do they have the same number of splines? If not, how many splines on the import & how many on the local?

I was seriously looking at the 7MGE but have decided to go with the 3RZ due to space, weight & overheating concerns. Can anyone who has gone with a 3RZ transplant advise me on which bell housing, starter, clutch & radiator is used? I currently have the 22R standard setup.

Does anyone know if an aftermarket bullbar (Nudge em, Burnco, etc) from an early IFS can be fitted to a SFA without too much trouble? Total width across the outer ends would be the big question here I'd guess.

I have a '98 2.8 diesel with the gearmax rear diff & diff lock. I believe that the front diff is the imported one (as they all are?) as there is no removeable cover on the back(front) housing. Does this mean that the drive shafts in the front axle are 30 spline & the rear shafts are 27spline...
