Re: Split system Question

I so I’m busy installing the system, but just realised that I’ll have to but a fuse on the battery cable running from the front battery to the one at the back, or actually on each end.
So I think I’m going to fit circuit breakers, the same as you find on Caterpillars.

I'm using my D- on the alternator to engage the relay, I'm thinking of putting a second 5 pin relay on that circuit so that I can have a toggle switch to manually disconnect the two batteries. Re: Split system Question

I worked for a construction company as a auto electrical appy a while back, we used the CH chassis solenoid for a lot of purposes, the hardest graft we gave it was on the 24v PowerLiner Trucks from Mercedes we used it as a relay to the starters and never had a problem with the contacts burning. Re: Split system Question

Ok I got 35mm2 double insulated cables to use and I got a boilermaker that’s making the box for the battery. I’ll put it all together and look at the voltage drop I’m getting once installed and take the necessary steps from there. One thing that I’m still a bit unclear on is the Battery Isolator, I ...

Split system Question

I need your guy’s advice on a split system. I have an auto electrical background but don’t know everything. I installed a simple system into my fathers D4D with the use of the D- terminal, a 102 Ah battery fitted under the hood and a Cole Hersee chassis solenoid. His system works great for his use. ...

Oil Cap Stripped

Has any one experienced a problem with the oil cap on a 2.8D Lux. My oil cap seems to be stripped, but after replacing the cap it’s still stripped. And I have replaced the tappet cover and still have this problem. When I first bought it the cap was extremely tight, but now I think the previous owner...

What’s up with it is that it is HOLY!!! Viscous vs. Electrical Fans

I drive a 1997 Hilux 2.8D SFA. My question is, is the standard viscous fan better, or is it a good idea to go to an electrical fan?
