Regarding your toddler just be careful with regards to malaria. To get to kama sanctuary either Martins drift or the gabs border post. But would personally take the Martins drift border then it is a straight shot of about 100 km to palapye where karma sanctuary is situated. Sorry no advice about kubu.

Guys they are not very strict, last year it was a case of do you have this do you have that, they did not check properly as it is a fun day. If something is missing you just lose a couple of point. In your recovery kit also have some gloves they like gloves.

the fitting is a compression type fitting that needs to be installed from the inside of the tank with a lock /seal nut from the outside. You do not have to remove the tank to do this as it is done from the original tank inlet from the filler hose with some trickery supplied by front runner.
