There are a few clips on youtube from different manufactures given very valid reasons why they still fit drums to the back of a bakkie.My point of view it's not actually worth it. Here's some info from Toyota regarding the axle size difference: The rear is narrower to 1. Reduce weight 2. IMPROVES handling (due to 4x4 charactaristics) 3. Also improves handling in turns 4. A large part of the vehicles mass would be outside the turning circle at highway speeds.
