FUEL SAVING modification '86 4Y
You can save fuel by reducing the time the FUEL CUT SOLENOID (FCS) remains in the ON position on the carburetor ....this is basically the IDEL JET! The NIKKI carburetor on the 1986 HILUX 4Y has a EMISSIONS CONTROL COMPUTER (ECC) that governs the switching ON and OFF of the FUEL CUT SOLINOID (FCS) or...

Re: SAVING FUEL 4Y (CARB)
Stephan thnx....Driving at any speed below 2250rpm you'er running rich because a 4Y carburetor is electronicly controled to run with its idel jet's fuel cut soleniod (FCS) open when below 2250rpm.This FCS is electronicaly controled by the emmisions control computor (ECC). When you drive at 60 kph (l...

SAVING FUEL 4Y (CARB)
im posting this again to give others the oppertunity to save fuel too. 4y idel jets (carb) are electonically controlled to only shut off at revs that are above average speeds so you run rich alot of the time! a simple modification lowers the idel jets cut off point and you save the fuel!...

Re: The fuel consumption of my Hilux
hilux 4y will be heavy on fuel because the carb's idel jet is governed electronically to only shut off after 2250rpm, so even at cruising speeds where you are below this rev limit the idel jet is supplying extra fuel.i disconected the little computer that switches the jet off and on! fuel consumptio...

Re: The fuel consumption of my Hilux
part of the problem when it comes to fuel consumption on 4y i believe, rests with the emmisions control computer.. it is over calibrated and hence waist lots of fuel whenever engine is below 2200 rpm...simple modification can change this.....8.6km/l town driving

Re: emmissions control computer hilux '86
mega its a little box mounted on left side passenger foot well post and controlls the idle fuel cut solinoid....i believe it is set to high and worked out a way to lower its opperating parameters from 6km/l now an amazing 8.6km/l town driving...feeling the difference but im 20 years late i think :( :)
