There is a lot of info out there. Because I suffer from gout and knee problems, I have done a lot of research. I have studied the vegetarian diets as well as the more meat based ones. Ultimately diet plays a HUGE role in your health. I know - DUH! But it's interesting what docters out there have to ...

Mileage? When issues like these start happening I always look at the usual culprtits first. I agree - consider replacing the diesel filter again - the cheapest option. Other possibilities could be injectors, diesel pump and suction control valve. Not sure whether the kzte has a suction control valve...

I would suggest you pull the actuator. Most times they need cleaning and a regrease. Otherwise find a buddy who understands micro electrics - or a tv repairer - there's a microfarrel/farret that goes on the actuator that you can replace. I have a chap who repairs mine when they go. There have been many discussions on this topic and it would seem that the KZTE is more prone to blowing head gaskets and cylinder head cracking than is the norm.
I'd check the head gasket and check for cracks.
I was fortunate - mine only blew a head gasket.

Alex there are "dust kits" that seal up the gaps on the tailgate.

Haven't really seen decen kits for Toyota though.
Check out on Youtube to get an idea. Quite simple to DIY your own.

I guess it would depend on whether you're going for a hot smoke or cold smoke. If you have decent wood then the heat would result in a hot smoke, and the inlet referred to would result in that area getting hotter... creating a hot spot. But this is what was requested and that's what we'll make. This...

I would think the extra cost of the new hilux will most certainly hurt more than the "poor" fuel consumption of your Fortuner...
