2009 Hilux Vigo V6 DC Shocks
Hi all, Has anyone purchased replacement shocks recently? I need to replace the rear shocks on my V6 DC Vigo. Currently sitting at 239 000 km and I certainly have never replaced the shock, and I don't know if the previous owner ever did. I have extended shackles in the rear with only a mild 1inch bu...

Re: Dual battery new Fortuner or Hilux
The charge voltage is regulated by the ECU (as stated) By adding a a diode to the "Alt S " 7,5A fuse you can drop the voltage by 0.6V and thus fool the alternator / ECU to think that the battery is still flat and get a bit more charge from the alternator. I've built my own using a inline f...

Finally got around to change the ATF this weekend. Basically we drained the gearbox sump (+/- 2.8 liters at a time) and measured the same amount of new oil and pumped it in, then run the car and go through the gears for a minute or three. I thought it would be more expensive at the dealer.
Got a price from Toyota Menlyn at R455 for 4 liter. Thats R113 odd per liter.
Which is cheaper than the Liquid Moly (R235) and Ravenol (R150)

This tank was from a very old geyser I got from my dad.
Some of the newer models use composite tanks ... or so I've been told, so maybe see if you can get some info on the make / model on the interwebs.
It usually has about 50mm of insulation.

Hi there,
As soon as you remove all cats you will need to add CAT - Foolers to keep the ECU happy, or you need to add a chip to fool the ECU, or re-map the ECU...
Else your ECU will light up your check engine light and put you into limp mode.
Any decent exhaust shop should be able to assist you.

Re: Hilux Vigo security kit/plates
We're currently visiting the in-laws in a small northern kzn town. I popped into the local toyota dealership and asked for the security kit... lo and behold a full R65 and 4 screws later...done. Re: Hilux Vigo security kit/plates
Hi Rusti,
The plates are specifically for the vigo models, I don't know of then ever being fitted to the SFA of IFS.
They are supposed to stop them getting to the horn, and unplugging the ECU in order to use theri own ECU, but I think it only slows them down.

Hilux Vigo security kit/plates
My insurance insist that I fit the " Toyota security kit" - 2 plates - one for the ECU and one for the alarm horn. Now the problem is that Toyota themselves don't make these security plates anymore... Does anyone here know where I might obtain the "security kit" ? Specifically th...

Hilux Leather Steering Wheel
Hi, Has anyone here removed the Leather covering from their steeringwheel? Mine is badly worn, and I was thinking of removing the leather completely. (did it on a honda ballade once many moons ago, under the leather was a standard vinyl steeringwheel of the lower spec model) I suspect that the previ...

Re: 2016 Fortuner
+ 1 on the 4Runner looks much better, why won't Toyota SA bring it here? I've been following these guys since they started, in their last season they took 2 4runners and a Tacoma (also a proper Toyota from the States) all the way down Central America. http://www.xoverland.com/ Videos: http://www.xov...
