It's alive!!! Again lol Finished all the plumbing and wiring, loaded a different map, started first time. Motor sounds excellent. Was a brand new piston. Seems the rod bolts came loose. Don't know how the heck that happened - I know I torqued it to the recommended settings.

Anyway, thankful that this happened now rather than on the racetrack

Worked a bit on the car tonight... This afternoon I picked up a used steering column from a scrappy. Rhe previous owner of my Corsa managed to stuff the original one up properly when he installed an aftermarket steering wheel... Chop... Yeah the last while the only tlc the Hilux gets is its service every 5000km. That's the beauty of a Hilux though - give it the attention it needs amd it just carries on faithfully

Also stripped the sub assembly yesterday and dropped it all off at the engineering works. Noticed the one piston had a busted ring gland. It seems it was a badly casted piston though, as the marks on the broken section looked odd... This will explain the nasty little missfire I had when going over 6...

Oh, that's interesting. Must be an adrenalin rush to have all that power in such a small car. Very nice.
