Re: Rumbling noise
If you do replace the rear crankshaft seal just be careful/mindful to install the new seal the right way around! I've had the "newbie" misfortune to installing it the wrong way around, which means the seal actually draws the oil out instead of keeping it in! Not a nice job to have to do tw...

Re: Weber retroject as EFI option?
All the ECU does is take various sensor inputs and work out optimal fueling and timing. Most of these aftermarket ECU's have multiple config options, so if the EFI carb has an option to drive 1 or 2 injectors(depending on the EFI carb's injector count), then it should work fine. That being said, I'v...

Have to agree with Niel.... 4L V6 is great for overlanding, strong motor, same fuel consumption as a 4Y or 22R... but not the right suspension for nasty offroad obstacle bashing, yes fine for the odd dunes or offroad play day... but if you want to play hard then an SFA is the better choice, but ja, ...

Re: 22R rebuild - what do you think of this job?
The timing chain problem on the 2nd generation of 22R's is well documented. From Wikipedia: Toyota swapped the dual-row timing chain used in older engines for a single-row chain with plastic guides in 1983. The new system reduced drag on the engine but introduced a new maintenance problem. After abo...

The 2.5tdi WL is a great engine, but the conversion still doesn't come cheap!
Get some real fuel consumption figures for the WL before forking out for the conversion... it may be cheaper in the long run to stay with the 22R, or possibly fuel inject it(if you can find the parts required!).

Nothing wrong with the Dicktator. I've done a few 4Y efi conversions using this EMU with excellent results. Used it on my own bakkie too. There are quite a few 7/5mge conversion running on Dicktator for many years. I think you'll need the wasted spark version which is a bit more expensive.

Hi, batch firing is correct. You won't win anything with sequential injector firing. Sequential firing would require a much more accurate timing method like a crank timing sensor. The magnetic distributor based timing won't do.
