Re: Steel Canopy

The canopy will be the same as a fibreglass canopy except the fibreglass will be replaced by steel, so yes the canopy will be more vulnerable than one with alu, but no more than a normal fibreglass canopy.

Re: Steel Canopy

i was thinking of 3mm. I was also thinking of using a smoked/tinted version.
When the window on my previous hilux canopy broke, they replaced it with perspex and not glass, could not tell the difference.

I haven't priced them yet, as it is only an idea at then moment.

Steel Canopy

Morning I am in the planning phase of building a half high canopy so that my RTT is in line with the roof of the hilux. Just to much wind resistance to leave it on my current canopy. Now I was playing with the idea to use perspex or something similar instead of the alu plate. so basically the canopy...

Hi I just replaced my 2.2 hilux with a 2.4 hilux. Now the 2.2 went like a rocket compared to the 2.4. The 2.2 has 20kW less power and a fuel consumption of 8km/l compared to 5km/l. Both have brospeed branches, powerflow freeflow and 31" STT's and raised suspension. Now how can a motor with more...

Re: extended shackles

why would a lifted vehicle use more fuel than a non lifted vehicle, the air footprint is still the same except for the little bit more tyres that will be visible? A lifted vehicle will sit higher but there will be a bigger gap between the vehicle and the ground. It is not like you added extra body p...

Re: extended shackles

I have found on fuel consumption it doesn't matter how I rig my hilux.
I tried the following:
1: Only canopy fitted
2: Canopy and roofrack fitted
3: Only roofrack fitted
4: No Canopy and roofrack fitted

Made no major difference to fuel consumption, stil a good 7km/l

Hi-Fi corporation and Cash Crusaders sell these thin boxes to go behind the seats, mostly for taxis for about R200, but the speakers are crap. Just put a decent speaker in the box. They will fit nicely behind the seat!

Hi Simon

It has the 2.2 4y motor in.

Only problem I have with the S/C is that mine does not have power steering!! I have looked a few times as Power Steering boxes but they are so warn out that they are no good, and they charge you a arm and a leg to recon a steering box!

Those spots helped a lot with night 4x4ing, was not planned, the owner asked me to help with the transport of a water tank to the top of the mountain, there is a hut ontop, on the way down it was dark. The round trip took longer than what we expected. Driving at night on a mountain trail is a whole ...
