Hi Andy, thanks. Ja I tried this way and that way and couldn't make sense of it. Maybe I was just too dof and it's time to dig it out of the box and have a relook. Just a premature suggestion, (depending on what you do or don't find), if you need a valve, just get a VW Golf one from Goldwagen ... cheapest option and they work very well. You may just have to make a new screw hole in the firewall to mount it .... needs at least two screws and the original hole ...

Why 2 tanks if the new one is 90L. Surely 90Lts is more than enough for any long distance trip, why not remove your original, I imagine it is 60 odd Lt, and just fit the larger one.

Can't help with the 1st question, but the answer to your 2nd is yes, it will be a bit lopsided. That's why when I went from 30" to 31" tyres, I bought 5. The only way to make a different diameter spare work, is to only use it on the front and stay in 2wd with hubs unlocked i.e., free

Sorry, I don't know anything about the 2.7 as I have a 4Y. All I can say is that your consumption is way higher than others with the same engine. This is purely my opinion from what I've read on this forum. I keep a spreadsheet of my consumption, and when mine started creeping up over 13L/100Km, I h...

Ok, I guess it must be so. Are you sure you don't have any leaks? On my SFA, I had a split in the filler pipe, so some fuel escaped through there, though it was generally when the tank was quite full. My 74 LR FC with a straight 6 used to get around 20L/100Km in town.

You are talking 2 completely independent systems here. I don't have a D4D, but changing the brake master has no bearing on the clutch. Did you not perhaps damage one of the clutch lines when doing the brake cylinder?

Doesn't sound normal to me. Is it possible that you have not bled the brakes properly and that there is still air in the system. Alternatively, maybe you have a leak in the system which is introducing air.

I can't answer your question, I'm afraid, as I don't know, but I can say that the DC to DC route is actually the better option. It seems like a lot of schlep to replace something that is working fine. I get your point about being big and clunky, but the weight difference is negligible and won't make any difference to performance or consumption. Just my 2c worth.

Maybe consider a complete subframe that could bolt through the side of the canopy, to which the cargo rails can attach?

I hear what you are saying, but watch out for 6mm bolts, in my opinion they are a bit lig in die broek. Could you not make 8mm work? If it's a mm from the edge, it won't affect strength much, as long as the 10mm strip doesn't break at the drill point, use fender washers to spread the load.

Not a good idea to use S/Steel bolts on an alumimium rack. Galvanic action is high and your ali will corrode away. It is better to use galvanized hardware to fix ali. Trust me on this one.

Hi Jarus, that will work, but just be careful. A rule of thumb for lead acid batteries is never charge at more than 10% Amps of the AH rating, i.e., max 10A for a 100AH battery. So, check what voltage your panels are putting out and work out the Amps that they can supply (A=W/V). Bear in mind that y...
