Thanks Andy. I use the Helix in my wife's Micra, and I cannot complain about the oil. Maybe just stick to that then.

Thanks Barend, will keep that in mind. Does anyone have any experience with Megatron Oils? My daughter works for a company who only uses Megatron and Ultron oils in their Machines. The specific oil I am looking at is an API 15W40 CI-4/SL. CI-4 is an indicator that it is for use in Diesel engines, bu...

Thanks Dawie . The lifters are still available at R 45 each, excluding courier cost from Durban to Jhb.
Also, can I use a 15W40 oil in the 4Y?

Re: Noisy lifter on '93 4Y
Sorry Andy, didn't see the post here. As I said the engine has 478 000 km on the clock. I managed to find Bretton's post on the Chev lifters which are an identocal spec to the 4Y lifters. Does anyone have an idea which Chev lifters are used. The part number supplied (VL93) seems to be discontinued. ...

Noisy lifter on '93 4Y
Hello everyone, On Friday I heard that one of the hydraulic lifters was a bit noisy, but it went away after a while. On Saturday morning the same thing happened bu it was noisy for much longer and kept on returning when the bakkie idle. Yesterday, it was real bad. The noisy lifter does not stop maki...

Re: New Wheel recommendations needed!
Hi Simon, Welcome to the forum. For me the 30x9.5R15 (245/75/15) works best. I had a set of BF A/T's on my bakkie. I recently changed to 31x10.5R15 (265/70/15)Highway tread, and, although people said they are not supposed to catch on full turn lock, mine does. However, the 31" does look better ...

Thanks Andy,
Maybe I must reconsider keeping the Aux tank. If I'm not going to really use it, maybe take it out and blank of that bottom pipe on the Std tank.

Re: Fitting an Extra tank AND a free flow
True that. I realised when I took the pics that there are a bit of work to be done there. I don't know by whom or when the extra tank was fitted, but clearly they did not put a lot of thought into it. I also noticed that the brackets holding the rear end of the tank are made up of bits and pieces of...

Re: Fitting an Extra tank AND a free flow
Hi Drew, I finally managed to take the pics as promised. I hope this will give you an idea of how to fit yours. I have added the tape measurement in order for you to see what gaps you have to work with for the free flow. The bottom of the tank is lower than the chassis, so you might be able to guide...

Hi Drew. I have a setup just like you are looking at. Problem is, I bought my bakkie like that and the didn't put much effort into routing the exhaust, something I'll fix when the finances allows it. You shoyld be able to route your exhaust next tobthe extra tank, providwd you also fit a heat shield...

'93 SFA Front axle leaking
Hi guys,
My '93 SFA front axle is leaking oil into the wheel hub causing the crease to weep out. How big a job is it to replace the hub seals and felt kit on the steering knuckles?
Can I do it myself or is there special tools involved?
Looking forward to your help.

Hello everyone. Thanks for allowing me to join your forum. I'm very new to this. I recently bought a 1993 Hilux 2.2 Raider DC 4x4. So far I have done 1000km and I am very impressed. I'm sure that I will learn tons and tons of new and interresting stuff from everyone here.
