Injector cleaner makes

I have a question about injector cleaning additives. How does one know when to use injector cleaner? I want to try to extend the life of my injectors on my D4D. 150000km on the clock. Toyota quoted me R320 a small container of additive for a full tank diesel. The garage over the road quotes R62 for ...

Re: Fuel gauge not reading correctly.

I just had my Hilux serviced this morning by Toyota Hillcrest.
They removed the cluster from the dash and resoldered some connections. This apparently is treated as a recall. No Charge. It takes less than 15 minutes to solve this problem. This seems to be a common problem with the faulty indication.

Re: Rear Diff Lock Wiring

Hi, Just my two cents worth. My 2014 Hilux diff lock can only be engaged in low range. It will not engage in 4H. This is a safety feature to prevent the diff lock engaging at high speed. This could damage the diff and cause serious accidents. Without a proper control unit it would be easy to make a ...

Re: Air Con randomly working and not working

It is possible that the unit freezes up. After switching it off and giving it time to defrost, the unit will work again. This happened to me.

Old CB Radios

I would like to know if the old CB radios used in the 80s are still useful today.
I have a 40 channel General Electric. I need an aerial and speakers but don't want to spend money if these units are
no longer in use. If they are still used, what channels?
thanks

Extended Cab Backrest removal

Hi Everybody, I need some advice. In my 2014 Hilux Extra cab, behind the front seats is an area with two compartments. Above this is a padded backrest. Is it possible to remove it without too much hassle? I am planning to Install my National Luna Twin in that space but need some extra depth. Removal...

Re: Vigo auto door lock

Thanks Luke,

I hear what you say but feel that in this age of computers Toyota should be able to upload some software into the system. From a safety point of view it should be a standard feature on all models.

Vigo auto door lock

Hi All,

My 2014 Vigo does not have the auto door lock at 25 km/hr.
Toyota tell me my vehicle does not have that option and they are not able to install that function.
Any ideas?
thanks

Towbar Questions

Hi All, My 2014 Hilux Extra cab 3.0 D4D tow bar does not seem to have recovery points. I have a spare tow bar off a Legend 40, 2010. This seems to have 4 recovery points. 4 oval holes for attaching shackles I presume. This tow bar also seems to be stronger although the rating on the data plate is th...

Hi All,

Thanks to all the people that gave me valuable information regarding the 2.5 D-4D.
After a lot if thinking I made the decision to rather go for the bigger motor and have bought a Toyota Legend 40 3- D4d.
It will be ready for pickup on Thursday. Cant wait.
Thanks again

Re: New Intro Ronwob

Thanks Gents for this valuable information. It definitely is food for thought. I currently use a 1.8 Corsa Utility with a 5 ft trailer with all my camping gear. The total weight must be a lot less than 1 ton.
a Caravan might be too heavy for the 2.5.
