Re: Groaning noise
Diff still heats up and noise gone, I have the old wheel bearing and it feels like its very grindy when turned. There was no noticeable noise or excess movement was detected when we tested it ourselves. I am weewee'd that the thing cost nearly 600 to just get the 2 wheel bearings done but got to giv...

Re: Groaning noise
Well it went back to the people who rebuilt the diff and the heat issue is normal and they found the LH rear wheel bearing was the cause of the noise so I am replacing both.
Hope this info helps someone else

Re: Groaning noise
Same noise before diff rebuild as after and everything I have tested/my fitter/mech friend and info on here all points back to the full rebuild diff. I did take it back to them Friday and the diff rebuilder came for a quick drive with me and said it sounded like a wheel bearing. This was before all ...

Re: Groaning noise
I jacked her up on all 4 wheels and put it in 4th 2wd then 4wd with the idle turned up so I could get around the car while everything is spinning and the only similar/bad noise was coming from the brand new diff centre. The noise from the diff goes away when under load as tested with the handbrake p...

Re: Groaning noise
Yes I think I will start disconnecting prop shafts to hopefully isolate where its coming from, centre bearing does not get warm or feel like there are issues plus the groaning is slow not high speed RPM like I would imagine any tail shaft issues would be. Transfer case I imagine would not be turning...
