Re: Diff and gearbox ratios
No not that I know of, it's the original transfer case that's on the gearbox.

Re: Diff and gearbox ratios
That's the first thing that went through my mind, cause if it really is a cressida box then it should naturally have long ratios and especially for cruising in high gear, unless it's not the gearbox I was told it is, but then even my mechanic confirmed it was a toyota box, he actually thought it was...

Re: Diff and gearbox ratios
It had a full 5m conversion, gearbox and all, all I did was change the motor to the 7m, one person in spoken to says maybe the gearbox ratios and diff ratios aren't mixing well, another guys says just change diff ratios, then another says it's too expensive cause once you change the rear diff ratios...

Re: Toyota 7GME en 5GME
Hi there, I bought my SFA with a 5m motor and matching gearbox straight out of a cressida, I have now done a 7m conversion using the same gearbox and bellhousing, it's a straight fit on both motors, the whole conversation cost me 21k and was every sent worth it.

Diff and gearbox ratios
More manne.. I hope someone can help me with advice pls, I have a problem with my ratios, at 120kph my revs are between 4100-4300 and it's killing me on petrol, now I heard changing diff ratios is a solution, but then I hear also it's my gearbox ratios that aren't mixing well with the diff and it wo...

SFA 7m radiator problem
Hi guys, I desperately need help and advice, the current radiator on my SFA has packed up and can't be repaired so I need to replace it, I bought the bakkie alredy with a 5m conversion, I then just did the 7m conversion using the same custom made radiator as it was more than capable of handling the ...

Re: 7mge fueling and dyno?
It's a 10W-40. But it's interesting you mentioning it. I was on my way for the weekend when the oil warning light comes on. Luckily I got a spare sensor, which I previously repair with pratley and have the same symptons (?) you describe with idling. I still have to buy a new one. so you saying it c...

Re: 7mge fueling and dyno?
ok thanks Everdt, I'm currently using Castro edge, 5w40, but the oil seems to be a bit too thin, the bakkie runs fine with it around town and normal driving but when the engine gets put under a lil bit of stress the oil light comes on at idle, when I rev or keep the revs up the light goes off or the...

Re: 7mge fueling and dyno?
Hi Everdt, my problem is now also kind solved after I took it for its second dyno, she doesn't die anymore or over fuel, but like I mentioned in my previous message, I'm now sitting with a drag racing 4x4, she only makes maximum power high up in the rev range, around 5000 and 5500rpm, that doesn't h...

Re: 7mge fueling and dyno?
Hi Gerald, to be honest, I had almost nothing to do with my conversion, my mechanic did everything, but I do know he did run into a few small snags, sump being one of them, something to do about the front diff and sump clearance, but it's all in now and fits perfectly so not sure as to wat he did ab...

Re: 1st gear vibration
ok that settles it then, that's my problem, cause that's exactly what I'm experiencing, I suppose it would have helped from the start if I had mentioned that wen I slow down and just before the bakkie comes to a standstill it shudders again and I suppose you also felt that while u pull aways the hig...

Re: 1st gear vibration
that could very well be the problem as I did replace it myself, but as everything came out I made sure to mark everything and made sure it all goes back the same way, but could also be that the propshaft maybe needs to be re-balanced, but wouldn't it then beg the question of why only vibrate in 1st ...

Re: 1st gear vibration
I should hope so, but not sure, I only replaced the one uni, the one by the centre bearing and wen I replaced it, it seemed to be in place perfectly, even before I had the uni and centre bearing replaced the bakkie would shudder a lil worse wen in 1st but it would then carry on throughout the gear r...

Re: 1st gear vibration
my tires have been balanced and aligned recently and I don't feel any vibration on the stearing, the hole bakkie shudders, it does feel like clutch is shuddering but I replaced the clutch about 4000km's ago, clutch plate, pressure plate and thrustbearing, it vibrates throughout the hole of first gea...

1st gear vibration
Hi guys I need advice, I had a nasty vibration on my bakkie while driving, was told it could be the centre bearing, so I replaced it, while replacing it, realised the u-joint had better days, replaced that too, then checked to c if the rest were fine, all was well, wen driving the bakkie I then noti...

??? the use of lockers ???
This might be a dumb question for most, what are lockers and what are they used for, I'v only had my first 4x4 for a few months now so still learning about everything 4x4, I have a 93 SFA 4X4 D/C with 7m conversion. what would the uses be of having lockers on such a bakkie if need be?

propshaft U-joint issue
Hi guys, I need advice, the U-joint on my bakkie the one by the centre bearing has said it's goodbyes, I went and bought a new one, but without realising it at the moment it's not entirely the same joint that's in the bakkie at the moment, the one I bought uses the outside clips to hold the joint in...

7mge fueling and dyno?
Hi guys, I have recently done a 7mge heart transplant on my SFA with a dictator management, wat I wanna know is wat would be the best fuel to use in it (93 super, LRP, 93 UNLEADED, 95 UNLEADED) for best consumption and performance to go with it and secondly in wondering if I myself shouldn't take it...

thanks a lot for this info, I have been waiting so long for any sort of confirmation that I made the right choice in buying the kumho's, I basically just bought them for their rugged look, cheap price (in comparison with other major brands) and cause the seller convinced me I wouldn't be making a mi...

Re: Lexus or 7mge
hi guys, just my 2c's worth, I had the same decision to make about 3 months ago, lexus or 7m??? I opted for the 7m as it was the way cheaper option and I didn't see the need to spend so much more on a conversion just for a few kw's and nm's more and then yes, to sit with the fear of something breaki...
