Hi I am new, had a couple of Toyota's in my life but I saw this old girl last year and I just had to have her! As I do a lot of photography of our South African orchid species, I needed a vehicle that was going to take me to palaces where a normal "bakkie" is not going to get me, so the old girl or should I call it the "old boy" was acquired by me after some negotiations. At the moment it is in for a overall spray paint as the old paint was pealing and it had some minor damage on the body that needed attention, it was standing under a shelter somewhere up country for a long time as the previous owner died. I was lucky to get it for a very reasonable price and did some restoration on it. It is a 1981 Toyota Hi Lux 4x4 SFS with a SR18 petrol engine ( 2000ccm ?)with only 106 000 on the clock. The kids decided to call it "oupa se blom trok" . Passed the road worthy test with flying colours. Will post a photo of us two old crocks as soon as it comes out from the pain shop.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Welcome Martin
I am sure that you have found a rare gem at a good price...
Make sur that you fit enough anti-theft devices as this will be a sought after number by the affirmative shoppers...
There will be plenty on this forum that will be able to point you in the right direction...
Also fit an electronic Rust Stop Unit to protect it after the Body Work...
