Which fuel to use?

Post by dalkill »

my 2.2 is a 1990 model.
According to NAAMSA website, the 4y is recommended to use LRP
It can use ULP, but with valve seat additive. Which additive to use?

But since this is a new engine , does the same rule still apply?

Sorry for interrupting Dalkill, I can't help you there, I have a similar problem, while on the subject, what is the difference between 50 ppm & 500 ppm diesel, and what is best to use.

Dalkill, I only use LRP in my 2.2. It was built to take it so that's what it will get. I dont know much about the additive for ULP but as far as I know you have to ad a bottle of additive for every full tank and that just adds extra cost to the existing sky rocketing price of uel.

Bushwacker, the difference between the two diesels is the sulphur content but I dont know which one is best to use. The 50ppm having the least.

LRP is ULP with the correct valve seat additive

It's all about the sulphur content, 50 or 500 parts per million... 50 is better and the best one to use is BP Ultimate Diesel 50

I have already filled up with ULP as it arrived here in CT running on fumes.
Can it do any harm to drive it with ULP until it is time to fill up again

No harm will come of 1 tank of ULP without additive. IMHO :D

Any engine that has valve stem seals that was installed since 1998 onwards is compatible with ULP, so sleep well and continue using ULP as it burns cleaner too.

Johan

Toyota SA natuurlik is altyd over cautious dis hoekom al ons engines hier se sepcs altyd 100 jaar agter was van Toyota International.
