New clutch & presure plate

Post by Leibrandt »

It is time to replace my clutch kit, any sugestions on specific brand, such as repko, luk, sachs?
It is for 1997 2.4p SFA 4x4, Where would be the best place to get a complete kit from? And what is the basic cost on such a kit?
Thanks

I think they are all good. Buddy of mine uses only Sachs on his MAN trucks. I always used LUK without problems

Hi Andre
Can you get a LUK kit for the 2.7i as well and what would the price be i have to do the main crank seal and its pointless not to do the clutch after 153 000 Km

And that goes for cam seal's too, I have seen this allot of times if it is not the original it leak's like hell, but use a aftermarket seal on a Ford and no problem :!:

Ok now the question that was most likely answered but i missed it so please bare with me

I got a quote from Midas here in Middelburg on a LUK clutch kit and as Hentey mentioned It is round about R2300 got a quote from the stealers and it went up to R3600 and that is without the crank seal. I also got the same response from the mechanic that is going to replace the seal and the clutch to get a crank seal from Toyota and not to use a different make or after market seal as it would not last. So back to the question

Should I get a Toyota clutch kit and pay the extra R1300 or is it just as good to fit a LUK kit from Midas ?

And i am counting on experience from you that has done this before

I will post prices for 2.7, kzte, 22r, and 4y, d4d 3.0 and d4d 2.5 maybe we can compare. please note, i deal in vw ect. so i might not get good prices on OE stuff, but i can get dealers dicount from Parts inc (the guys who supplies Midas) gimme a couple of hours to get prices from them

Pieter is right. The Clutch companies put tenders in to supply the OEM. On VW previously the SACHS were the kit for vw, nowadays LUK is the clutch in VW and Audi, but SACH still supply on certain models. They sometimes supply to each other as well. (Between clutch manufactories)So you can buy repco(luk) or SACHS it is not bad. Yip the seals would be a different story seeing that some retail companies supply the cheapest for the biggest markup

Ek dink nie daar is iets fout met Payen gaskets, Ferodo briek skoene, Timkin of SKF laers, LUK of Valeo clutch, FRAM of GUD filters ens nie.

Nou toe nou!!! Sal sien hoe lank hou hulle.

Ek het o.a. valve guides vervang: Toy prys: R 135 stuk, Alert = R 6.50 stuk.

Cheers,

If you want the original HT leads that Toyota used to use give Gemini a call.
Have a look here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5594&hilit=spark+plug+leads

Toyota only use Bougi now it seems and still it is cheaper to get them from midas.

Jy sal regkom by Bearing man, maar vra vir 'n viton seel, die gewone swart seels gaan nie hou nie

Thx, Scott, will give them a call. The 22R uses a thin lead, and the connectors also thinner. They are quite scarce in our valley.
