Replace bench seat with single seats

Post by mrbig »

Hi guys,

Does anybody perhaps have any suggestions as to which front seats will fit in a 2001 Hilux 2700 Single Cab?
And where in the Cape area would one source seats?

I've tried Barnetts and Moto Truck & Bakkie for actual Hilux front seats but nobody can help.
The current bench seat in my bakkie is really well past its best and I'm hoping that single seats will not only increase comfort but also make it easier for the (very short) wife to also drive when necessary.

Thanks!

Ron.

Cressida seats - good tip thanks.

Has anyone tried Camry seats?
I looked at the rail mountings and they look very similar to the Hilux?

In a single cab you have a problem with the size of the seatbacks as there is not a lot of space for them to fit in. Therefore you need to make sure you get seats that do not have bulky seatbacks otherwise you end up sitting on top of the steering wheel.

That's a very good point - the standard Hilux seats do have a rather thin back.
Some of the more 'luxurious' seats will definitely steal space if the back is fatter.

That's something to consider - I'm a tall guy and need the seat as far back as possible.

Then your best bet would be to search for the KZTE seats that Piet Bushwacker spoke of. Keep on searching for the right pair of seats.
