Hilux revo tailgate central locking
Hi . I made my tailgate work with my oem central locking. I looked all over the internet and couldn't find any info if it was possible.
Only info I found was the Australians sell a kit.
Anyway I bought a universal actuator and had a go.
And it works like a charm.
Basically drilled a hole through the back of the key lock plate, the actuator rod needed to be bent to slot through the newly drilled hole and stay there (bent in a "z" shape)
Drilled 2 holes to mount the actuator the right distance and angle to work.
Wired it into the passenger rear door by splicing the correct wires and joining into them.
Cleaned the lock and mechanism and layers with grease to let it move easily.
And job done.

Hi there. This is something I’d like to do to. Where did you get the universal actuator?
Thanks very much

I got it from a car audio shop. Called discount radio in alberton. Most car spare shop should have them in kit form but not all of them sell individually.

If you are doing it on a gd6 hilux. Then in the cluster of wires going into the door you will need to look for the two thick wires (all the rest are very thin) the two thickest wires are for the central locking.
I wires into the door and that was a bit challenging getting my new wires through that rubber . Another solution in trace the wires through the middle pillar to where the go into the floor board .

Re: Hilux revo tailgate central locking
Hi Guys,
I am new to the forum, been browsing it for a little while while researching tailgate central locking mod for my legend 50, so apologies if this question has already been answered previously.
I have already bought a 2 wire actuator and made up the brackets to attach to the locking mechanism (similar to shaggy10111) explained above. However I am now stuck at wiring stage, can't seem to locate the correct wires to tie into both in the centre pillar and on the central locking module itself in the kick panel.
Any help will be much appreciated

Yes thanks.
On the centre column between the doors, it is the thick black and white wires located on the bottom of the white plug.
Just fitted it this afternoon, works a charm.
