We are planning a trip through Zambia, Tanzania, and Malawi. One of our group will possibly be in a 79 LC V8 DC.
Rest in 3.0D4D.
Has anyone done or know of somebody that has done this with a LC V8.
The reason for my asking is the diesel limitation (I hear) to 50 and 10ppm of the V8.
Will it be possible to get 50 ppm in these countries? I tried the internet and sent e mails to the oil companies but have not had replies.
Is it ok to use the occasional tank of 500 ppm?
Thanks!

Gooi 500 ppm, will do nothing to the engine, replace the engine oil when back , and carry spare diesel filters.
But to extent those expensive injector's live add an extra water trap filter in the engine bay if you haven't done it yet.
.The only reason you need to use 50ppm is that the CATs dont block in the exhaust over time.

Toyota only sell the 1Hz cruiser bakkie in Africa, due to non availability of low sulfur diesel, but they sell the 200 series with the same V8 engine, just different emission system. Some mines in Tanzania imported V8 pick-ups long before TSA did it, running on 3000 ppm I think they said .
