Is this something to worry about
I changed the right rear wheel today and when putting the jack under the axle I noticed this wet patch where the axle and wheel hub is connected. Should I be worried about it or could I just leave it but keep an eye on it.

Re: Is this something to worry about
Hi Ben
i would be can only be the oil seal that has started leaking , on some Toyota axles this washes out the grease in bearing and can cause bearing to fail ,for instance on the Prado l have this is the case. Not to sure if Hilux has the same set up (semi floating axle) . i would only use genuine Toyota replacement seals ,the aftermarket ones are know to fail very quickly

Agree with Martin. Replace your oil seel with genuine Toyota one.

Dankie.

Re: Is this something to worry about
Ek sien nou wat julle altyd so praat, van Toyota wat mens so beroof. 2 x Bearings vir R2450.00 terwyl Midas vra net R480.00 vir twee.
Dankie.

Hennie maak nie saak by wie jy koop nie. Koop net Timken of NSK bearings. Het jy pryse by Bearing man (BMG) gekry?

Of SKF of Koyo. The Legend wrote:Hennie maak nie saak by wie jy koop nie. Koop net Timken of NSK bearings. Het jy pryse by Bearing man (BMG) gekry?

Re: Is this something to worry about
Made in China, koop liewers by Autozone, beter kwaliteit. Hallo Louis, het my bearings by N1 4x4 gekry en gedink dis alles. N1 4x4 was in elke geval toe.

Sal sien wat kwoteer hulle my. Hi Ben. Yes, have it seen to before your trip - chances are that if it is going to fail, it will do so on a long trip. It might just be the seal, but if there has been water ingress and it looks anything like Hennie's, it will fail you.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Is this something to worry about
Yes Ben I had done both wheels, better safe now than sorry later. I had lot of tools at home and it was not easy to take the bearing out. The assembling job was easy because I had a press, but it is not something you can take it with you. Do it before you go on your trip.

Ek sien hier is nou nie baie Kapenaars wat op hierdie blad was nie so sal op die Community Forum ook pos. My vraag is na wie kan ek my Toyota hier in Durbanville neem om die seëls te vervang. Wil nie na Toyota garage gaan omdat hulle my 'n arm en been gaan vra.
