Hilux Revo Accessories Thread
I've also posted this on 4x4 CF.
Thought I'd start a Thread where we can exchange ideas / pics / websites to discuss accessories on the new Hilux Revo.
Canopies, replacement bumpers, OE accessories, rear bumpers, tyres, suspensions, etc etc etc.
I am getting my Hilux over the weekend or so, and have already ordered the following (I'll post links wherever I can, maybe this can help, also PLEASE share your thoughts/links):
1) Dash Cover from Escape........I've found this really really handy for storing ID's, cards, shades, pens etc etc.
2) Seat Covers from Escape.......My favourite Supplier.
3) Rubber Mat Set from Escape..As Above
4) Center Console Safe from 4x4 Direct......Great for cash/passports/illegal diamonds etc etc
5) I have also ordered the black Fender Strips from Toyota
6) And the black rubber door strips.....looks cool.
7) Rear replacement bumper from Onca. That chrome bumper looks bloody HORRIBLE. And Onca charges around R 10500, fitted......the towbar and "pipe" bumpers from Toyota are more expensive than that!! See here...........http://onca4x4.co.za/product/hilux-revo-towbar/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'd like a canopy - the RSI canopies seem way to go?? I'm looking at something with flip-up doors, forward window must slide, and a built-in table. Also sliding side windows. I also did'nt buy a rollbar/tounneau cover - you ALWAYS scratch the canopy/body when fitting it with a rollbar. And the canopy will be more on than off. Still, I'd like to be able to remove the canopy VERY easily, and will even have outside grab handles made on the canopy for that reason.
This is still on my Wishlist:
1) Drawer System at the rear
2) OME or similar suspension
3) Tyres
4) Dual Battery Setup
5) Replacement Front Bumper, together with upgraded suspension and tyres.......something like this.........http://onca4x4.co.za/product/revo-namib-edition-rx/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some pics of the rear bumper/towbar and replacement front bumper from Onca.
What do you think - that rear bumper on a white Hilux : White, Grey (as in pic) or Black??

Think so Luke?? That OE chrome bumper on the Raider looks bloody horrible!! Also do'nt like the separate towbar/step bumper thing on offer from TSA.

The step itself looks good, just the tow hitch looks weak!

Re: Hilux Revo Accessories Thread
Must say, it does look funny. But I guess it should match the tow rating of the car. And it's detachable - I love that. Also, if you do scratch something, it'll be that drop plate. Can store it under the one back seat in one of the Lux's storage compartments there. In a little bag.
What do you guys think.......black, grey or white?? White may look a bit zef. I like the grey as shown, with the black bits.

Just thinking of something here..........where is the Raider's reverse camera?? Not in the existing bumper I hope?? Otherwise this will be a hassle.........

Got my 2,8 Manual today......had those black overfenders and strips installed. I think it sort of breaks up the "whiteness" a bit.

Just saw my pal's Rhinocab canopy - also nice. I like the "rounded"angles.
Anyone knows anything on the ARB canopies?? They're also good looking. Flip-up glass side doors.

Price Luke - fitted?? Looking at one with 2 sliding side windows, carpeted inside, and lighting. Oh and also a table.
White, with the dark grey side doors - same as my friend's.
Luke, how dust proof are they??
Finally, where are you situated - where's Griffiths??
Thanks - Petri

Re: Hilux Revo Accessories Thread
I'm in Australia mate! If you want sliding windows you want the cheaper classic canopy. Very basic, one small light above the rear window. Dust proof and water proof, well that depends on the fitter! You can buy a vent to put in the top of them to pressurize the canopy to help keep the dust out. Carpet? Why on earth would you want carpet in there??? Have a look also at their ascent canopy, very nice! Central locking system wired to the car, better lighting, much nicer!

Re: Hilux Revo Accessories Thread
Just bought the rear bumper/towbar from Onca 4x4.
Price worked out at R 10 828, that includes the wiring loom, fitment, g=finished in black, complete.
That rear step bumper from Toyota works out at .............................. R 4776
Towbar at Toyota....................................................................R 4233
Wiring Loom at Toyota..............................................................R 1746
Fitment................................................................................R 750
TOTAL..................................................................................R 11 578.
Just FYI - not saying which is better etc etc. I went for the Onca setup, REALLY do'nt like those rear chrome bumpers.
..........what do I do with those new chrome thingies..........???

Re: Hilux Revo Accessories Thread
Sadly, toss them away or let them lie in the garage till somebody has had a fender bender. Some fitment shops sell them for R500.00, as the previous owner does not want them.

Re: Hilux Revo Accessories Thread
Got the Escape Dash Cover today. VERY well finished and fits great. I just LOVE these covers!!
Also got the rubber mats, good quality, fits great, and the clutch needs not be depressed that hard to start on the Revo. Great design!!
The same cannot be said about the seat covers though........really disappointed here. And I use a LOT of Escape seat covers, nit only personally, but also in my Retail Business. NOT Escape's Finest Hour, I'm sad to say.
Not bashing anyone here - no need to.
1) The front seats fit like crap
2) The rear backrest is one HELL of a job to fit covers on to
3) Escape does not supply the center console cover, as most others do. Bummer - that console will get dirty quickly.

Wow those seat covers really looks terrible. Are you going to keep them ?
I got Takla seat covers 7 years ago and they still look great. Only problem is with my work pants I slide around a bit on the seat due to the material used.

Herman, I hope they will " seat in" over time.
Ma nou ja.
Guys I'm NOT trying to bash anyone here.......I have bought maybe 12/15 Escape seat cover sets in my life, and VERY happy with them. I just think it's relevant to mention my opinion in here, and everyone can make his/her own decision based on that, and the pics provided.
If I'm the only pain in the a$$ complaining about the Revo seat covers, apologies. But if not, I'm sure Escape will take notice and improve on their design.

Onca rear bumper/towbar. Cheaper than the Toyota towbar and rear bumper chrome thingies. Looks nice I think, makes the truck look shorter. And you can remove the drop plate - mine is gonna get stored under the rear seat.

I love those bumpers. Espesially the clean look of that one. Only thing I don't like is the bright checkered plate. I painted mine black but the paint doesn't stick well to the galvanised plate

Jaws yes - the checkered plate does'nt bother me, but I think that "HILUX" insignia will get dirty very quickly. Especially for example when you go hunting......blood underneath that cant be too good.
But my mistake, I forgot to ask Len NOT to do the HILUX thing.
