I have now exhausted all avenues that I am aware of to obtain vhf radio licences for the 2 units we want to use in Botswana. All the advertised email addresses - no reply. Their Web site no reply after 3 days. No reply on the 20 plus mails I sent .....
Does any one have contact detail that I can use to get some assistance from Boca?

Re: Botswana communication authority
Rina at ORRA previoulsy helped me with contact details for Namibia.
Frankly not even 1% of tourists bother with this ...
Went through MANY control points in Botswana and not once did they ask about our radios.
They DO check for meat though !!

Re: Botswana communication authority
We have used 2 way uhf radios bots, namibia, zim, mozambique, zambia and angola over the last 15years, and only once have we been questioned about them.
If you are worried at border crossings, just remove the antenna, switch off and cover the radio itself.
At the end of the day its your call, but this has worked for us until now.

Re: Botswana communication authority
Eric, thanks for the detail but non of my repeated emails were answered after 3 week when using any of those addresses. I even used their online "call log" but 2 weeks later, not a word.Family_Dog wrote:I suspect you are fighting an uphill battle iro a VHF radio licence in Bots, but follow this thread for some assistance:
I will contact Rina as a last resort.
If they cant help I will follow the advice as mentioned.
Thanks all for the feedback.
Chris we take no meat over the border . We will stock up in each town for the following day or two, for our stay in that area.

Re: Botswana communication authority
Niel, for the last past 9 years we have being traveling to Bots, and still up to today I have had no response regarding a temp LIC, I have even inquired at the border post, they looked at me funny and told me to move on as I was holding up the line.
Been through plenty road blocks and have never been asked for my radio Lic, even though it was in plain sight and on.
Don't waist any more time
