2016 Hilux?
2016 Toyota Hilux side
While the current Hilux is only available in certain markets, the 2016 Toyota Hilux is planned to be a Global model meaning that it will be for the first time introduced on the US market. This would mean that the current Tacoma will no longer be produced. Toyota hasn’t officially announced this yet but we are expecting them to because the new Hilux is bigger, more powerful and also much more fuel efficient than the previous generation.

2016 Toyota Hilux review
On top of all these, the Hilux will actually receive a new chassis that will loosely be based on that of the current Tacoma. This means that the usual engines will be gone and replaced with much more fuel efficient ones. Its price though will remain mostly unchanged, so expect to get the least equipped version for as low as 20.000 dollars or even less. The release date has been announced to be at the end of 2015.
Engine
Toyota Hilux engine
Just as we said, engine wise there will be some major changes. There are going to be new engines as well as carried over engines from the previous generation. The most likely engine to be carried over will be the 2.7 liter inline 4 with nearly 180 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque. The new engine will be in the form of a new diesel engine that will be based on the new Cummins 5 liter V8. This one will get 2.8 liters in displacement and it will make around 160 horsepower and more than 300 lb-ft of torque, meaning it will actually have more torque than the current 3 liter turbo-diesel but less power. Luckily though it will be much more fuel efficient, so expect it to use around 10% less fuel.
Transmission wise, the old 5 and 4 speed automatics as well as the 5 speed manual will be gone in the favor of all new gearboxes. These will be a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic that will be available both with rear wheel drive and all wheel drive. The latter will also get new electronic differentials that will allow the new Hilux to be just as good off-road as the old model.

2016 Hilux interior
Inside the 2016 Toyota Hilux there will be changes but not so many as on the exterior. The general layout of the dashboard will remain mostly the same, the differences being in the new type of materials and equipment that will be available. Now even the base model will get things such as automatic climate control, audio system or even a trip computer.

Exterior
Its exterior on the other hand will most likely be different in order to be able to keep up with its main competitor, the Amarok. It will be slightly wider, longer and a bit taller and the departure and approach angles will be quite better thanks to a new bumper design.

The automaker produces the engines in Thailand and Indonesia and the transmissions in the Philippines and India. It assembles the vehicles in 13 locations worldwide, including Southeast Asia, South Africa and Argentina. The finished products are sold in more than 170 markets, including the Middle East and Latin America.
Production of the new IMVs will begin this spring in Thailand. Facilities in Argentina and Indonesia will also be updated gradually to make them.

Re: 2016 Hilux?
Some engine specs leaked:
The leaked info suggests that diesel power would come from two four cylinder intercooled mills; a 2.4 that produces 125 kW and 400 N.m of torque when connected to a new six-speed automatic gearbox (343 N.m with the equally new six-speed manual), and a 2.8 making 132 kW and 450 N.m with the auto box, but detuned to 420 N.m when selected with the manual.
Power from the revised petrol is rated at 116 KW and 240 N.m of torque with no word made about transmission options, or the previous range topping 4.0-litre V6.

Hi Guys
Found this on the web no so long ago
Was a bit dissapointed to be honest, at first glance it looks as if all they've done is given it yet another face lift.
Looks can of course be deceiving though

Re: 2016 Hilux?
The best spy pics yet of Toyota's all-new Hilux have surfaced on the web.
Toyota has yet to officially reveal the new Hilux and it's only expected to go on sale in South Africa in 2016 but the latest round of spy pictures gives us a clear view of the bolder exterior and more upmarket cabin.
With its shapely headlights, large grille and muscular flared wheel arches, the 2016 Hilux ditches the conservative design language of its predecessor and inside the cabin there's a more curvy dashboard that appears to have been influenced by that in the latest Corolla.
The spy picture also shows a large touch-screen which isn't neatly integrated into the dashboard, although this is a prototype so it's likely that Toyota is still working on the finishing touches.
As for the engine line-up, a leaked (alleged) spec sheet for the double cab model lists three new diesel engines.
It shows a 2.4-litre turbodiesel with outputs of 110kW and 343kW in manual transmission form and there's an automatic version credited with 123kW and 400Nm. The new top dog is a 2.8-litre that delivers 130kW and 420Nm in the case of the manual and 450Nm in auto form. The only petrol engine listed is a 122kW version of the current normally aspirated 2.7-litre.
Given that the Ford Ranger has been running the aging current Hilux so close on the sales charts of late, even beating it in December last year, this new bakkie can't come too soon.
Just hurry up reveal it officially, please, Toyota.

Thanks John.
From your website it states that the 2.4 auto will have more power than the manual. Is this correct ?
Those power figures are not far from the 2.8 !
A bit premature but this seems to be the pic of the crop to me - considering the current difference in price between the 2.5 and 3.0 diesel models.

Starting with the 4WD variant, Toyota has given the Hilux Revo HAC (Hill Assist Control), DAC (Downhill Assist Control) and A-TRC (Active Traction Control). As reported earlier, the new Hilux will get Power and Eco driving modes for the new engine along with an IMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Smart entry with a push button start, a cool box, automatic AC with rear AC vents, projector headlights with daytime running lights and follow-me lights and a Start-Stop system are other features seen on the Fortuner-based pickup. Safety features on the new Hilux include ABS, EBD, BA, VSC, Bounce Control, Brake override system (presumably the brake overrides the accelerator in case the driver presses both pedals) and airbags.

Hi friends, this is John Fambrini. Sorry for the delay, didn't expect to be swamped with an avalanche of emails and phone calls from Hilux Revo enthusiasts from all over the world. Finally got time today to update the site with the latest information and some pictures. Site again is http://toyota-hilux-revo.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Detailed pictures will be added all through this week. Please let me know if you need any more information.

Re: 2016 Hilux?
Hi. So the new Hilux arrived in Harare this past Friday (25/07/2015) and the dealer had 3 models. By today Sunday, two were sold and the last one left is a demo. He decided because of the attention from the public and clients he would open on Sunday for people to have a look at the car. It's amazing inside. Outside looks are more like it or hate it. I booked a test drive for tomorrow. The keyless entry is a gem and makes my D4D looks small side by side. His proud to be the first to have imported them into Africa and has another 12 models on the water. All full spec auto.

Re: 2016 Hilux?

Re: 2016 Hilux?
Drove past about 4 vehicle delivery trucks on my way home and all of them had only the new Hilux on board. I was driving so I could stare but of what I could see it really looks nice in the flesh.
