That's why I'm in "sales" and not in "service".

We are in the process of erecting a new mast (self-supporting, not guyed) at one of or high-sites in Klerksdorp, I must get Jacques to take lots of pics!

And once you're actually up there, with the tower swaying in the wind, it feels like 10 times the height it really is! Nope, my feet stay firmly planted on the ground. Highest our guys have climbed is the Sentech Tower at Hartbeesfontein, that is 300m, they had to install antennas at around the 200m mark. While doing this, the sky blackened and a fierce Highveld thunderstorm took place. They sheltered about 2/3 up the mast under a platform. Fortunately the storm only lasted bout 40 mins as is the norm and then passed over.

:D: Been on that very tower many moons ago during my student days; bursary agreement dictated that I had to work for Telkom during holidays and between semesters....so we ended up there to pan a microwave antenna that received signal from a Rurtel repeater...
As I recall those ladders between platforms are straight up...a real fitness test hehe...I think we went 9 platfrorms up that time
