From what I read, an Hilux double cab seems to be the best option. So I'm looking for one in the Gauging area.
Ideally, I'm looking for one already equipped for camping (aluminium canopy, dual battery system, drawers, roof rack, long range tank, water tank, roof top tent...) but I know these might be hard to find...
So if you know someone selling this type of car, can you please let me know?
From what I saw on your "Which Hilux to choose? "page, I should go for an IFS one (from 1998 to 2005), as I plan to drive on the road quite a lot to visit the country, but also do some bundu bashing from time to time, and speed is not a real issue. I'm doing a lot of photography, and will most probably be travelling through Namibia and Botswana again, so I'm looking for a 4X4 that can take me to remote places and back safely. I will also be spending a lot of time driving in the sand, as I'll be working next to the Kalahari transfrontier NP.
What I'm not so sure about is should I go for a diesel or a petrol one?? Coming from France, we tend to avoid petrol car, because petrol is very expensive here, but might not be the same in SA? On this forum I also found some advices saying that if you buy a used car you should go for a petrol one (2.7i Raider), as the engin is lees finicky that the diesel one (3.0 KZ-TE). Let's say I buy a diesel with about 250 000km on the clock, is it worth the risk?
Another question, is the 3.0 d-4d diesel the same engine as the 3.0 KZ-TE??
Cheers!
