1st Bumper Build
A few weeks ago I started looking at a plan to build a bumper for the Jeep. Took my offcut square tubing and slapped them together, doesn’t look good but it was just a template to give me the basic idea. Please don't judge from that.
This weekend that passed was the first weekend in many where I was at home for a change so decided to continue the bumper.
Made a few cardboard cut-outs and stuck it to the template, took the cardboard template and put it flat on the 4mm sheet. Measured it exactly to ensure that both sides are exactly the same. Cut out the template, Cut lines into the cut-out where the bends must be, started bending and this is how it turned out. 90% complete, still need to cap the ends and a few other minor thing then paint it. Bolts to the chassis on 8 bolts. Your comments would be great. Thanks guys.

Cool!! And you can always cut a winch-plate into there if you ever decide to do so.
The driver's side is a bit lower by the looks of it, or is the fender higher. (Maybe you can still tweak it a bit).

Jip, There is space to do so.Mud Dog wrote:Cool!! And you can always cut a winch-plate into there if you ever decide to do so.

The bumper is 100% straight. The problem is that my driveway has slight bumps in so where I was parked the back wheel was in one of those bumps. Now a thing I noticed with the Jeep and mentioned it to shaun who has the same problem is that the body of the Jeep does not move with the chassis. In other words if you are doing an axle twister the left side for example, the gap will be up to 15mm bigger than normal and the right will be up to 15mm smaller and once you level out they are back to normal. Do not know why that is but it is. Shaun as a few dents in the front of his fenders where the bumper has hit it because of this problem.

Re: 1st Bumper Build
No bender. I cut lines indo the back of the sheet where the bends needed to be and bent it by hand. Was difficult but got the desired look.
That was the idea I had in my head and then transformed it into steel. Once the template frame was built I drew a few lines on it with PAINT on the computer and it was born. Will post that originalpicture here later.

Well now I'm even more impressed...
Though a while back my 9 year old son amaised me when I was looking at a picture of my Hilux on the computer trying to see how it would look with black wheels. He said, "why don't you just paint them..."
I moved out the way, and in about 2 minutes he had changed my white rims black...
