Stuck in 2H

If oil cant come out the gearbox / transfer box then i dont think Q20 would be able to get into the boxes.....NathanX4 wrote:Na 'n lekker uitstappie saam Foryota sondag middag, besluit my trokkie om in 2H vas te sit. Nathan... myne lyk ook so. So ek weet nie of Q20 gaan werk nie.

Jeepie, at the moment it has 2H and 2L.
Ek lees louis se dit roes bietjie daar binne. Weet nie of dit in 'n "shaft" of iets loop nie. Groot skroewe draaiers buig.

Maar daai shaft gaan net so in die xfer case in. So klink vir my meer na iets in die transfer wat nie lekker is nieNathanX4 wrote:Jeepie, at the moment it has 2H and 2L.

Re: Stuck in 2H
So your 4x4 lever is jammed? but you can still go between 2 low and 2 high?
if you put your 4x4 gear lever in does it move from 2 H to 4L?

Re: Stuck in 2H
Q20 will go into your transfer case from there if i remember correctly but it won't do any damage, just don't sprey a full can in there.
if that lever is seized, you can sprey some q20 and try and lever it forwards and backwards or lightly tap it with a hammer.
i opened my transfer case about 6 months ago, because it was jumping out of 4L, pitty i didn't take any pics

Have a look here viewtopic.php?f=92&t=9776" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Maybe some pics help your problem. Maybe the shaft interlock pin is stuck. It's a pin which prevents you selecting 4 low unless the other shaft is in 4wd and lines up.

I agree to a cetain xtent with this. I was in Kwuharib-Schlutte river bed a few years ago, driving in 4x4. I was busy changing from 4L to 2H while exiting the river bed. The vehicle hit a bump & the little gear jumped up (dis-engaging). I then only had 4x2 for the rest of the trip, resulting in getting stuck in river beds & along the coast, where ever I lost momentum in thick sand. I was too scared to try & open it along the way, in case I lost all gears being a long way from home. On my return I left the vehicle with a friend to have a look at while I was at work. He opened it up & said that the gear lever had just come out from the gearbox splines or something to that effect. He just took it apart & put it back again & it worked without any further hassels from then on. I sold it working perfectly. This is apparently a common occurence with these SFA. Unfortunately that friend passed away about two years after that, so I cannot ask him how he fixed the problem. I am sure that First Geer has mentioned, that he has come across this before as well & would know how to fix this problem. If you would like to contact him, his number is: 0eight2 nine7 1eight five1nine
