Hello from Kenya
Hi all,
After having just bought my first ever Hilux (2013 double cab pick up) I thought I should introduce myself after having lurked on this forum for long enough.
I am a helicopter pilot in the British Army based up here in Kenya, my wife is an expat South Africian who has been living with me in the UK for the last 11 years, we plan on returning to SA permanently in about 3 years, she used to work in nature conservation in the Ok delta and Transvaal park so she is really keen to introduce me to the delights of the African bush, hence the Hilux.
This forum helped make my mind up about which 4x4 to buy, it gets delivered in 2 weeks and I can't wait. I am about to order a Rhino Canvas Canopy for it, I know there are many disadvantages to them over FG canopies but I am used to that from cutting around in soft top lard rovers for the last 20 years. They also looks cool as hell.
Anyway, fly safe, drive safe, keep the wheels pointing down.

Kenya provides many reasons to live here, Toyota customer service however isn't on that list.

Welcome on board. Please take out all luggage, move your seat to the reclined position and open your tray table. In other words, sit back, relax, enjoy and make yourself at home

Re: Hello from Kenya
Welcome into the fold, Henry!!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: Hello from Kenya
Hi Henry, welcome to the website. You got two things spot on : wife and Hilux. We need chopper pilots down here : a bunch of brand new machines ( 109's ) and very few to fly them. Maybe a ratio of 1 to 4 ( four machines for every jockey ). Me think that is the best in the world. And the situation with the Grippens are even better. But you now that. And thanks go to our forward thinking leaders. Only in Africa.
But I think you know that too.
