Cost to repair turbo

Hi All
My Lux popped a turbo pipe on the way home this afternoon and when I replaced I saw that the turbo and pipe is quite damp with oil so it will need sorting out sooner than later. When I say damp with oil I mean it is the consistency of printers ink if that makes sense no need to mop it up with a rag.
It is fitted with a SAC intercooler so I called them for replacement pipe and enquired as what it would the cost be to sort out the turbo, they reckon ball park about R 6 000,00.
I am clueless when it comes to repair costs for turbo’s. Is this a fair price?

Not clued up on turbo's either, but have heard that re-conned turbo's don't last. Don't know how true that is, but it might be worth checking out and comparing costs against a new one.

Hi David.

The oil inside the pipe and turbo is normal to the wear of the engin.
The oil you see inside come from the motor itself and not from the turbo.
After replacing the pipe make sure about your boost pressure
( why did the pipe break?) Good luck.

That oil comes from the breather pipe, they are all like that
