Re: Moegatle 4x4 trail - Monday 17th December
Leon Gouws are planning a weekend to remember there this weekend...we cannot go- Lucy had a huge fall at he invitational and we have not had time to fix her up yet....
Hi All,
Once again we are planning a nice year end get together and "drive like crazy weekend" for all the challenge guys and their friends/families/4x4 connections. We do this every year and it has always been the highlight in my 4x4 year. If you missed it last year, speak to anybody who didn't, they'll tell you all about it. This is not a competition weekend, but I would like to think that we challenge each other and our vehicles even more than on our official challenges!
We decided to move the weekend back to the long weekend like in the past, to give us more time to play, and because the MSA prize-giving now falls on the weekend of the 7th of December. We will therefore be playing from the 14th to the 17th of December.
This get together is held at Moegatle (near Brits) and Alex(the owner) has once again organized us very special rates for the weekend, as we are his favourite clients, bringing some real action to his doorstep! We plan to do 3 excursions which will cater for serious 4x4 rigs, and standard 4x4's.
The planned action will take place as follows, and please note these are estimated times only, our return times depend on how much fun we are having :
Friday Night : 20:00 - ±00:00 Night drive - Driving the round the house route up to "Propshaft valley". The night drive is an eerie experience and not for the faint of heart! Be warned! (make sure your lights work, and get lights if you don't have! You will need lights anyway for our first friendly challenge in 2013, which is going to be a day/night event as well.)
Saturday : 10:00 - ±20:00 Complete Moegatle 22km trial, making some new challenging obstacles as we go, and starting the day with "Sledgehammer" up to "Klein Botswana". We might even fit in a Dry River Bed Drag race like last year. This trail is family friendly (if you don't mind the occasional "veltie") and your family can follow with the refreshments and hotdogs in a standard 4x4. Afterwards we will all braai together with Alex supplying the "pap & sous" and the fires. We will be watching some 4x4 action of the day and other events on the big screen as well.
Sunday : 10:00 - ±16:00 Tjokwe Rocky mountain trail. This is basically a rockcrawling trail mostly for serious 4x4 rigs, but standard 4x4's can stay close to the action all day long. We will be driving our well known route in reverse this year, so bring all the winches, recovery straps and kinetics you own or can borrow/steal, you are going to need it!!!!! Please note that we only start at 10:00 so everybody that still want to listen to the church service on RSG beforehand can do so.
Monday (Public holiday) : Load what's left of your rig and family, and go home with a smile on your face!
Costs and Accommodation:
The total cost for the use of the 4x4 trail is R 250 per vehicle, which includes Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. For the most part, this is a camping weekend and camping spots are R 150/spot/night up to 4 people. You can add R 25/person/night for every person more than 4. There are a few power points available, but please note that only the guys that come early and bring long leads will get power! The facilities include ablution blocks with hot showers, a swimming pool and a bar.
For the guys that don't want to camp, the accommodation is as follows(and in Afrikaans) :

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Re: Moegatle 4x4 trail - Monday 17th December
As jy net ry gaan dit vinnig.

Groot skuif hek.
As jy daar in ry, volg jy die grondpad tot by die kroeg/swembad. Sal nounou 'n kiekie pos.
Die hek is by:
S25º 24.123' E27º 43.596'
Die bymekaarkom is by:
S25º 23.743' E27º 43.140'
